Naomi McCarthy

artist, writer and creative producer

Australian born, Naomi McCarthy grew up travelling through England and Europe with her dad’s band. During these peripatetic early years she loved being in a classroom, to her it was a space of playful, creative encounter, a welcoming community even when she didn’t speak the local language.

She began training to be an artist as a mature age student. She went on to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Western Sydney and a Masters of Creative Writing, from the University of Sydney. Loving the inter play between image and words, she currently works in art and education and has a collaborative creative practice that spans across writing, visual arts and performance. Naomi specialises in facilitating creative encounters that ignite the curiosity of participants and audiences alike.
